About 50% of our clients do have difficulties extracting daily data. Several reports have to be extracted and possible manual calculations made. The other 50% has absolutely no problem and they provide us easily with data in minutes for years back.
This really feels like when we started The Daily Bench in 2001. We asked the clients to submit ADR (Average Daily Rate) plus number of sold rooms and we were at the same challenge as today with historical data:
• “sorry we have to pull it out manually”
• “sorry, we cannot get the ADR”
• The worst one: “we do not have any historical data”
This morning I had a very nice call from a Hotel in Copenhagen that is just in the situation being stuck with a limited PMS provider. They have seen the other venues in Copenhagen gaining market intelligence on C&B and they are way behind now. They decided to upgrade now and as of June 2010 they will be onboard.
We do see that the PMS providers starting to wake up as you all need reports and statistics easily, not only to work with The Conference Bench, but other systems too.
